The Boko Haram insurgency has created multiple challenges for Nigeria particularly in the North East where communities have been decimated forcing millions to become internally displaced. This displacement from their homes has caused growing unemployment among youths, despair and consequent loss of dignity. leadership
Being a health practitioner, I repeatedly face distressing cases of lost potential in young adolescent girls who by virtue of the communities they were born into, are almost certainly destined to a miserable life of poverty with little or no skill and a lack of formal education, leaving them completely vulnerable. Girls Child Concerns (GCC) was birthed in 2003 as a not-for-prot organisation focused on addressing some of these concerns..
Our Approach
Training is delivered at our modern purpose-built facility which comes with computerised and automated equipment. We apply both theoretical and practical instruction for at least ten construction industry trades over a 3-9 month period, depending on the trade. We have adopted a system which borrows heavily from the Moroccan vocational training procedures and guidelines, which also meets International standards. In addition, our courses which run concurrently, are in accordance with the Nigerian vocational training certication.
